Posted Date: 3/13/25 (9:17 PM)

Dear ECCO Parents and Guardians,

OSAS ("State Testing") 2025 Update

I am the testing coordinator for ECCO. If you have any questions about OSAS ("State Testing") please let me know via email: torres@4j.lane.edu

Below is the information the district has sent to parents directly and also through your home school newsletters.  In the message below, please notice the links embedded with access to 4J and the State of Oregon pages. These pages contain more information and forms you can fill out for your student to "opt-out" of state testing.

If your student is a Junior at ECCO, they will be taking approximately 5 hours of Oregon Statewide Assessment (OSAS) testing at the times listed below,  with make-up times as needed.

Please do everything you can to ensure that your student is present during these days.

As a parent/guardian (per Oregon law) you can "Opt Out" your students from the state testing for ELA and Math. You also may "Exempt" your student from the Science test (8th and 11th grade only).  See the hyper links below for these forms and more information.  You may submit these forms to ECCO physically or return them to me via email.

Official 4J message about OSAS testing (with embedded links):

Each spring, 6th-8th, and 11th grade students test in MathELA, and Science. Students and families can practice taking these tests here

Though the federal government requires that 95% of enrolled students take these tests, families in Oregon can opt out of OSAS Math and ELA tests.

Families must submit a written exemption request to "opt out" of OSAS science tests based on accommodating a student's disability or religious beliefs.

If you have any questions about OSAS ("State Testing"), I will be happy to help you.
